Mrs Janet Hailes Michelmore AO is a founder and patron of Jean Hailes for Women’s Health, a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the knowledge of women’s health throughout the life stages and providing a trusted, world-class health service. Following an early career in education Janet has established a reputation of successfully working and collaborating with numerous stakeholders including researchers, clinicians, educators and consumer groups at a national and state level. In 2001 her contribution to the women of Australia was recognised in the Australia Day Honours when she was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for her services to women’s health. In 2003 Mrs Michelmore was awarded a Centenary Medal for her outstanding contribution to women’s health and wellbeing, in 2013 she was inducted on the Victorian Honour Roll of Women and in 2015 was made a Fellow of Monash University.
